Let it Snow!

The best thing about living in Southern California - is the weather.  I was born and raised here and I absolutely love it!  The temperatures here are normally pretty mild. It is nice living so close to the ocean and to the mountains. From my house, I can get to the beach in the summertime in 45 minutes. If I want to see snow in the winter, I can drive 1 1/2 to 2 hours to see the beautiful white stuff.  And even though I love the weather here, when it comes time for Christmas, I always wonder what it would be like to see the snowflakes falling from the sky and seeing a white blanket of snow on my house, lawn, trees and the beautiful mountains that surround my city.

After last night though, I realized that snowflakes can be seen where I live. And only a few miles away at our shopping mall.  My husband and I were invited by my nephew and niece up to our mall to see it snow!!  We were really excited, as it is not something that happens around here often.  It was a cool evening, so when we first arrived at the mall we stopped by Starbucks for some hot chocolate to help keep us warm as we watched it snow.

The announcement was made that it would snow at 7:00 pm
(note: the snow machine on the second story balcony)

The Christmas music started and at exactly at 7:00 pm...
it started to snow!

It was a BEAUTIFUL sight to see!

My nephew and I posed for a picture as the snowflakes fell from the sky

I sure wish the snow didn't have to melt so quickly but

It had no choice, especially when the snow is made of soap and is blown out of a machine in the form of soap bubbles.

Oh well... I'll take watching it snow whenever (and in what form) I can.  We are headed up to the mall again tomorrow night.

After having to thaw out the car and brush off 6 inches of snow this morning I would gladly trade. The grass is always greener . . .
Hmmm, when was the last time I saw green grass?

As "Corners" states We don't have to shovel out of the drive way in the morning either! Gota Love SC! Nice Post BTW!

Wish I could have been there. We had a blustery, windy night here in Bakersfield.

Hi there, As a native California girl who moved to Colorado, snow is indeed wonderful to behold but my hubby would gladly trade it for northern Ca. The grandkids are here though so I doubt we'll be trading it; plus this year has been dry so far-I'm thankful for that.
Have a wonderful week.

That looks like so much fun. I was in England for the Northern Hemisphere winter of 87/88 and it didn't snow once (a bit different there this year).

Well, it's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? Yesterday was a snow day (no school) for much of the area around me. About 2 FEET of snow fell in 1 1/2 days! So, Rachel baked the first batch of Christmas cookies & I started addressing Christmas cards!

Love the pic with your nephew, btw! :)

Here in the Midwest we are in a deep freeze with below freezing temperatures expected, which is unusual for December. I can certainly understand wanting snow for Christmas, though, and I'm glad you got the experience of it! It's the 2 months of freezing cold and nothing but snow after Christmas that we get tired of! Have a wonderful week, Cricket.

What a fun post! I never stopped and thought about the fact that this is an event that could happen at a mall. I like the picture of you and your nephew. If you could feel how cold and windy it is in my corner of the world today, you might really be happy the snow came from a machine. I would miss the winter weather we get here, but it sure does sound good to hear about the conditions where you live. Thanks for sharing it.

I think I would love to live in southern California. I would love the weather! There is something about a "White Christmas". I hope you enjoyed seeing what it would be like! If only it could snow in 50 degree weather, now that would be great!

Happy Belated Birthday, Crickit!

I loved your recipe for Cranberry Orange Popcorn, I can't wait to try it, Cranberry Orange is my favorite flavor for muffins/breads etc, can't wait to try it in this form!

I guess when it comes to snow, you gotta take what you can get. We haven't had our first snow yet though, and we can't wait. It may be coming by next week! At least you left the mall cleaner than when you came...
