HOUSTON...We have a problem.

Well Houston, you have done it again!
I have had a problem
with You, going on three years now!

First of all, You lured my sweet daughter away to
Your State three years ago.
I was ok with it at first,
 because I thought,
" I need to give her wings to fly and
I am sure in 6 months or so she will be back".

Boy was I wrong!

While in Houston, she met a wonderful man,
who became her husband.
 And after they were married
 did they come back here
to California, her native state?

Nope!

Houston kept them there.

The cost of living was cheaper and the jobs
were more plentiful in Your City ,
so they decided to stay and make their home there.

I am telling you, Houston, I have really tried
to get used to the idea of my daughter living
1,500 miles away
but with this most recent
news that we received a few weeks back
from our daughter and son in law...

I am having real issues with You!

We are thrilled to be Grandparents to our daughter
and son in law's first child who is due on
January 23, 2012!

What a Blessing!

It is a good thing that I know the
God of the Universe, who knows the future
plans for us all!
 He never makes a mistake,
and when He closes a door... He opens a window.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11

So, I rest in this knowledge, knowing God has my daughter
and son in law, exactly where He wants them... for now.

But as for you Houston...
You are still not off the hook!

Better watch your back!

Cute blog sis! Maybe one day her family will come back to CA, or maybe you and Keith will go there. I would be sad but I know how hard it is for you to be so far away.

Way to let Houston have it! I'd be upset too.

I am happy for you, to be a grandma is so exciting.

Well put, I know how you feel! I lived 28 hours away from my mom for the last 4 years, having her first granddaughter while I was in Wyoming. Now I'm closer, 11 hours away, but I'll take closer. Congratulations on your happy news!

Oh congratulations, congratulations...I keep waiting for my announcement...and I am in TEXAS...native TEXAN, so I know that child will enjoy his/her native state.
Now you have another excuse to come visit my state.

May God richly bless the pregnancy, birth and life of this child as the joy of of his grandmother overflows.

Oh how fun!!!!

Congratulations on the great expectation!! Some day, I hope to be in your shoes. I think (and fret to be honest) that I will be in those exact shoes and have my daughter off in some random city that is not her home.

I have a suggestion: MOVE to Houston!! Yeah... a little simplistic, aren't I?

Still... congratulations!

What a cute post. Yikes...that is a long way from home and Mamma.

What an exciting journey though.

I am so very excited for you! You know how much I enjoy the grandparenting role of my life. The verse you shared was so appropriate and the whole new adventure for your family is wonderful news.

By the way, I totally understand the Houston thing. Long distance grandparenting is difficult...I agree with you.
