Take Your Mood for a Swing!

Can listening to music put you in a "mood"?
I know it does, me.

In times of "moodiness"... music can help!

Especially, when you are aware that the
number five with his little friend zero
are coming your way in about four months.

I love music and so many genres of it.

My parents were music lovers and growing up, my siblings
and I learned to love many different styles, as our stereo
turn-table spun many records- from Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass,
Neil Diamond, Tommy Roe, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones,
Diana Ross & The Supremes, Simon & Garfunkel to Willie Nelson.

I used to be able to pick up song lyrics quickly and knew all the words
to many songs after listening to them, just a few times.

So, when I am feeling a bit "ho-hum" from the hormones
or lack of themI listen to music... sweet music!

It is just amazing, how my mood changes.

In the morning,

I usually listen to contemporary Christian music
as it helps to start my day off right.
Starting my day off on a positive note is key for me!

In the car,

Now here is a place that I can be me and sing as
loud as I want!
(as long as I don't have other passengers along
and sometimes when I do)
In my car I listen to oldies, country & Christian music.

Listening to oldies reminds me of my growing up years.
And believe it or not, I still know most of the lyrics to the songs.

And country, well, the songs that have a good story
to them can really lift my spirits.
The ones that don't, I just push that little "off" button.
If the singer is "drowning in his beer"... I don't want to join him!

And Christian music... I listen to the latest songs or put in
one of my old CD's from the 80's & 90's.  Let me just say that
the new Christian singing artists have nothing on Benny Hester,
Randy Stonehill, Amy Grant, BJ Thomas, Petra and Bryan Duncan.
Anyone else remember them??

With dust mop & broom in hand...
Cleaning is just not something that I enjoy doing.
Some days, it is hard for me to get motivated, as some
of the tasks just seem overwhelming.

But.. all I need to do is turn on
SiriusXM music on my TV...
1970's Music to be exact
and away I go!!

M U S I C
 is definitely my mood breaker
and mind saver at almost 50.

So, here's to...
hormones,
mood swings,
 and sweet,sweet music!

In the words of David Essex...
ROCK-ON!

Good Bolg sis! I also remember that animal record dad had, something to do with Warthogs and don't forget Mitch Miller Christmas album and Twila Paris. The good ole days.

Wow, I guess your family is changing, nice changes though! I have always loved music. I was raised on country music, my father is a big fan. He still loves old country where I favor new country. I also like to listen to top 40 and adult alternative. It is on my cable music channel, that is how I know about this. I think I may have to try the Milky Way Bar Treats, they look so good!
I also try to put off cleaning, but it has to be done!

Oh with you on this....I love music and I can sure tell when I am listening enough and when I am not...Worship to oldies..recently the new Eagle CD, which just makes me feel young, some of the Contemporary Christian pieces speak straight to my heart...yes, music can even out those hormones any day.
My five year old sings also...and now my 15 year old in the shower.

God knew how it would affect our spirits....put the radio on please...and let me dance!

Such good memories. My dad loved the Tijuana Brass. And my sisters all listened to the Supreme. I remember them studying all the dance moves on American Bandstand and couldn't wait to get old enough to go to dances. Every time I hear Peter Frampton I think of my husband and when we were falling in love. Makes my heart skip a beat!

I just love this one!

Music fits (and fixes) my moods too. I like a lot of the same ones in the same circumstances that you mentioned.

I agree totally with you. There are many times I am driving with my radio turned up. I just happen to really like southern gospel music, and it lifts my spirits so often. I also like oldies, country, classical, and jazz.
But, my friend, since I hit the magical age of "50" quite a few years ago, I must tell you, it is not all that bad.

By the way, if you need a group to serenade you on your birthday, I can recommend highly the group I featured on my latest post:) They may not sound all that great, but their hearts are in the music.

This was a fun visit to your blog. Now, I have some songs on my mind.
