A Good Samaritan

Sometimes, in this world that we live in,
it can be hard to find the "good" in things,
and even sometimes... in people.

But on rare occasions, we do get to
see a glimpse of someone, who is
willing to go out of their way
to help someone else,
who is in distress.

We call this person--
A
Good
Samaritan.

Good Samaritan — n

1. New Testament a figure in one of Christ's parables (Luke 10:30--37) who is an example of compassion towards those in distress

2. a kindly person who helps another in difficulty or distress

And on this blog post,
I want to introduce you to someone
who did just that.

I am proud to say, that it was
this young man, my youngest son, Travis.

Recently, Travis was driving down our
street, when our neighbor came running
out of her house, waving her arms and
screaming for help!

Travis quickly got out of his car,
and asked her what was wrong.

She was soaking wet and told him that
her upstairs bathroom was flooding
and she didn't know where the main
water turn off was or how
to turn it off.

Travis looked around and was not
sure where the water main was
either, but he quickly called,
his dad and within minutes was
able to turn off the water and
stop the flooding in our poor
neighbor's house.

We are so proud of our son.

He did not know the circumstances
of the crisis in this situation,
before he got out of his car.

It could have been something much
worse, but he was willing to do
what needed to be done,
to-"help and have compassion for
someone in distress".

Our neighbor came over a few
days ago. First, to sing Travis'
praises. She was so thankful that
our son stopped to help her, and
in doing that, the water damage was
much less than it could have been.

She also wanted to give him these
cookies that she and her daughters made.

This blog post is not to brag
about our son, it is to share
how very proud we are of him.

It could also be titled--

A Proud Mom Moment.

You should be proud, way to go Trav! You raised a good, caring boy!

And well you should be proud!! Too often, we hear stories about the younger generation as if the are all about "me" and don't even notice the distress of other, let alone care.

But you have proven otherwise.

I think it's OK to relate to God here and understand the heart behind his words when He said,
"my beloved son in whom I am well pleased."

Sounds like a responsible young man.

Proud mom moments are just the best!
