This ladder has been around,
a very long time.
And he has definitely seen some better days.
My husband Keith,
acquired him, in his youth.
He has served Keith well though,
over the past several years.
Many pairs of feet have graced his rungs,
and many a paint can has
rested upon his
crown.
As the years went by,
he became old and feeble.
It was time to put him into "retirement".
There he sat, on the side of our house,
for many a year.
UNTIL...
Someone needed him again.
These two beautiful sister's and friends
of ours, had recently started an event planning
company.
It is called, Magpie Event Co.
Oh, the beautiful parties, showers and events they
have hosted!
Candace had put out a post on Facebook,
to see if anyone had an old wooden ladder
that they could use for their new business.
My husband replied,
"Yes, but you might want to take a look at it. It
has definitely seen some better days!"
We really had no idea what they could use
this ladder for.
Because, you see...
He no longer had the strength
to hold anyone upon his rungs and
he could only be handled with gloves,
because of the old splintering wood.
BUT...
They had the idea and they knew what
purpose he could fill.
So, Candace picked him up, took him home,
cleaned him off a bit and
with her sister, Natalie's help;
gave him new life and a new purpose.
Doesn't He look beautiful?!
Who would have thunk!
Keith and I, just want to wish,
both girls at Magpie Event Co.,
the very best, as they
start their new business venture!

Yes, he does look wonderful all spiffed up for his new purpose. I just love it when something old can be new and useful again.
I think it's a lesson to all of us.
Even those of us who feel kindo of like that ladder like me.
What a creative idea!
Retirement never looked so good.
Now how cute is that!
That's adorable! Im sure your ladder is happy to be covered in sunflowers and surrounded by (I'm assuming) cupcakes and lemonade. Best of luck to Magpie...I'd hire them if they came to Pennsylvania!
What a great use for a beloved "friend"! We have one just like this that came with the house we bought last year... it is slightly rickety and now houses our spare wood in the shelf! I found your blog from your comments on Christine's and Mary's blogs! I'm you newest follower!
Have a great weekend!

I like hearing how old things can have new and beautiful purposes. This is a great story and by seeing what they did with the ladder, I know they will have a successful business.
That's fabulous! I'm certain they'll do well... they have a wonderful sense of style!
Blessings, Debbie
