Remember my post called "Parks & Rec & Me?
In case you never read it or just forgot, here is the
place to go, just to refresh your memory!
In that post, I was going to join a group of people who
are a bit older than me.
In fact, I am still a real "youngin" compared to most of them.
They start at the age of 50 and go to ___? And because I
won't be the Big 50 for a few months yet, I am sort of breaking the rule.
Shhhh... don't tell any of them!
I had listed a few different ideas, of what I might do with
this new 'group' of people.
Did I want to scrapbook, make jewelry, play bridge, hike or...
did I actually say the word...HIKE?
Well.... yes I did!
That is what I chose to do. I joined a hiking club for
folks who are serious about hiking! I also enlisted one of my best friends
to join in this new venture with me!
Our first hike was this past week.
The group we went with is about 50 people in number; men and women
all ages (over fifty) in different shapes and sizes!
This first hike was labled "easy" so we were pretty happy about
that being our starting point. It was on the bluffs by the sea and
the return trip was on the shore itself.
The total in miles, was five (5).

It was a beautiful sunny day!
The elephant seals were napping.
The wild flowers were all in bloom.
We made it!
Three (3) more hikes to go before this club takes a summer break.
We got in on the tail end.
The next hike will be next week and it is labeled as "moderate."
That term really meaning that it is moderate for the seasoned hiker.
For us that means- "probably difficult"
But...we are up for it and although at the end of it
our legs may feel like jello...High Ho- High Ho, A HIKING we will go!

What a beautiful day you had! What a beautiful hike, too!!! Glad you had fun!
Well I will exchange my sight seeing in the country and all the gas it cost for this any time...this is wonderful. I did walk/jog and ride my bike today...the bike riding is still a hoot...can't get all those gears right, but I got out in the sun!
Now I need to check on a group like this, since I am now 50 and four months!!!
Go girl!!!
This is a great idea! Since I'll be joining you in the 50 club this year, I need an adventure group.
It's just so awfully HOT here for hiking.
And it's flat.
Maybe I should find a biking club.
I came across your blog today and enjoyed reading about your fun adventure and seeing the beautiful pictures of your hike.
What beautiful scenery. Makes all the hiking worth every step.
Where do I sign UP!!!
This looks like so much fun and beautiful!!
Keep up the good work and don't forget your camera.
